Commuting to the Presidio
In addition to the long list of amenities and its iconic appeal as a national park site, location is what makes the Presidio the premier spot for your next office space. Situated at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Presidio is easily accessible from anywhere in San Francisco and the surrounding areas via all popular modes of transportation. Whether your potential recruits and new hires are cyclists, carpoolers, or they rely on public transit, they’ll be pleased with their options for commuting to your office space in the Presidio.
Public Transit
San Francisco’s extensive public transit system makes the Presidio accessible from virtually anywhere in the Bay Area. The MUNI 43 stops inside the park at the Presidio Transit Center and MUNI 1, 28, 29, 41, and 45 routes stop in and near the park. There are also multiple options from East, North, and South Bays via BART, Caltrain, Samtrans, AC Transit, WestCAT transbay buses, and more. Check out our Public Transit page for specific routes.
Presidio GO Shuttle
The Presidio Trust operates two types of free Presidio GO shuttles for your convenience; Downtown and Around the Park. The Presidio GO Downtown shuttle offers roundtrip service from the Transbay Terminal near the Embarcadero to the Presidio YMCA inside the park from 7 am to 6 pm during the week and 9:30 am to 5:30 pm on weekends. With departures approximately every 30 minutes and six different stops (including the Embarcadero BART station), the free Presidio GO Downtown shuttle is convenient to multiple neighborhoods between the Presidio and Downtown, including Chinatown and Nob Hill.
Once inside the Presidio grounds, the Presidio GO Around the Park shuttle provides free transportation in a continuous 30-minute loop from the east side of the park (Transit Center) to the west side of the park (Rob Hill Campground). The route has six different stops, including Inspiration Point (great spot for a lunch break!), and runs from 11 am to 6 pm, seven days a week.
Bike to Work
Don’t let the hills intimidate you. Many San Franciscans commute by bike and the Presidio provides great options for cycling tenants and employees. Follow the coast from downtown to Crissy Field for a no-fuss ride or wiggle your way through the streets of San Francisco from any of the popular neighborhoods. Bike racks throughout the park provide easy and convenient parking while you’re working. Bay Wheels Bike Share stations with classic bicycles are located near Presidio Visitor Center and the Outpost play area at Presidio Tunnel Tops. Bay Wheels electric bikes are also available in the park. Find and rent them using the Lyft app. Only want to ride one-way? Presidio GO shuttles have bike racks that easily transport your bike back home with you as you give your legs a break. While you’re thinking about it, check out our tips for biking in the Presidio.
Carpool or Drive
There’s ample parking available throughout the park for employees, clients, customers, and visitors. Parking permits are required and can be purchased from pay stations in hourly and daily denominations (contact the Presidio Parking Office for monthly permit options). Electric vehicle charging stations are also available in several locations across the park.
