Celebrating the World's Best in the Travel Industry

PRESIDIO OF SAN FRANCISCO, CA – October 19, 2017Condé Nast Traveler announced the results of its 30th annual Readers’ Choice Awards with the historic Inn at the Presidio recognized as the #1 hotel in San Francisco with a high score of 96.93. The Inn at the Presidio has previously been recognized by the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards as one of the top five hotels in San Francisco in 2016 and #3 Best New Hotel in the U.S. in 2015.

“We are thrilled to have been named the number one hotel in San Francisco by the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards,” says Terry Haney, General Manager of the Inn at the Presidio. “To be given this award as a result of ratings from guests and visitors is such an honor, and we sincerely thank all those who submitted on our behalf.”

Over 300,000 readers submitted millions of ratings and tens of thousands of comments, voting on a record-breaking 7,320 hotels and resorts, 610 cities, 225 islands, 468 cruise ships, 158 airlines, and 195 airports.

Surrounded by miles of hiking and biking trails and scenic overlooks, the Inn at the Presidio offers guests an intimate retreat within San Francisco’s urban national park. Once a bachelor officer’s quarters built by the army in 1903, the building underwent an environmentally sensitive rehabilitation in 2012 that transformed the historic structure into the park’s first lodging. The Inn features 22 spacious guest rooms, including 17 suites with fireplaces, an inviting front porch with rocking chairs, a dining room, and an outdoor deck with a fire pit.

The Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry and are commonly known as “the best of the best of travel.” Under Editor in Chief Pilar Guzmán, the Readers’ Choice Awards have become more selective and specific to the passions that inspire today’s travelers.

The Readers’ Choice Awards are featured in the November issue of Condé Nast Traveler, on newsstands nationwide on October 24, 2017. The full list is published exclusively online at
