Beer lovers will want to add Sessions at the Presidio, a modern gastropub featuring more than 100 craft beers, to their short list of must-visit San Francisco restaurants. Opened in 2015, co-owners Chef Michael Bilger and General Manager Evin Gelleri were inspired by their love of small batch, artisanal beer to open what they're calling a "New American Public House." The restaurant's name refers to session-style beer, low-alcohol brews best enjoyed over long afternoons feasting with friends, or after a hike on a Presidio trail.
While beer is the focus, those who love good food and well-prepared cocktails will not be disappointed. The menu is thoughtfully sourced and executed by Bilger, who's spent time in the kitchens of Boulevard and Wayfare Tavern. Made with fresh, organic produce harvested from Marin's Skywalker Ranch and naturally and sustainably raised meats and seafoods, the plates are meant to be shared with the table and paired with Session's extensive list of curated beers, wines, and cocktails.

Visit Sessions at the Presidio
Located in the
Letterman Digital Arts Center, the decor is modern and somewhat industrial. Its inviting 50-seat outdoor patio offers a view of the Golden Gate Bridge, allows well-behaved leashed dogs, and features heat lamps for eating outside even on typically bone-chilling SF nights. Kids are welcome too, but you may want to consider getting a sitter to truly enjoy your session here.
