Sections of Park Trail and Bay Area Ridge Trail Closed to Dog Walking

To reduce the potential for coyote/dog conflict, we’ve proactively closed large sections of the Park Trail and the Bay Area Ridge Trail to dog walking. This annual closure is temporary; we’ll reopen these trails to dog walking in fall after pupping season ends. All 24 miles of hiking trails in the Presidio are open to people.

Scenic Overlooks

Grab your camera! The best places to view the Golden Gate Bridge are right here in the Presidio.

Connected by trails, the park features more than a dozen vista points where you’ll find jaw-dropping views of Presidio and San Francisco landmarks.

Whether you’re seeking Golden Gate Bridge views or a meditative moment in nature, you’ll enjoy sensational sightseeing at the Presidio’s majestic vantage points. Each overlook can be found along the park’s hiking and biking trails, taking the appeal of hiking in San Francisco to new heights.

The best overlooks to see Golden Gate Bridge views are Battery East Vista, Golden Gate Overlook, and Pacific Overlook.

From Crissy Field Overlook, you’ll see the beaches and wetlands of the Presidio’s northern shore against the backdrop of San Francisco Bay and the city skyline. Immigrant Point Overlook showcases the gateway through which newcomers arrived. And National Cemetery Overlook and Marine Cemetery Vista tell the stories of people who shaped this place.

The park’s newest destinations – Presidio Tunnel Tops and Battery Bluff park – offer views you won’t want to miss.
