Many Presidio visitors pause at Crissy Field Overlook on the well-worn path to the Golden Gate Bridge, but the views are so impressive that you might want to make this your primary destination.
Here you'll find a landscaped plaza with benches set along a curved, stone wall, inviting you to sit for a spell and take in the vista. Be ready to whip out your camera! The panoramic view enchants — sailboats bobbing on San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz and Angel Island at center stage, and the iconic San Francisco skyline in the distance. You'll also get a sense for just how grand Crissy Field really is, with its grass airfield, beaches, trails, and the red-roofed airplane hangars that now house popular recreational destinations.
Crissy Field Overlook is located along the multi-use Presidio Promenade. You can also get here via a short walk from the Muni 30 stop at Sports Basement, and there are a few parking spaces are nearby.
Crissy Field Overlook was made possible by a gift from the Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund.
