Presidio Institute Welcomes White House Office of Management and Budget Director Shaun Donovan to Discuss Cross Sector Leadership

Director Shaun Donovan joins talented group of mid-career executives in Washington DC to speak about working to solve social, economic, and environmental problems.

(Washington, D.C. – July 13, 2016) The Presidio Institute today announced a special event that features a discussion of the merits of cross sector leadership with OMB Director Shaun Donovan.

The conversation is part of a gathering of Presidio Institute's 2016 Fellows,  twenty-three professionals from businesses, non-profits, academia, philanthropy and government participating in a 10-month, multi-city program delivered in partnership with AARP, BlackRock, Joseph Advisory Services, Koch Industries Inc., McKinsey & Company, MetLife, Twitter, and NYU Steinhardt. The goal of the program is to develop bold and courageous leaders to meet the complex challenges facing our society in the 21st century. The Fellows program features immersive learning visits that launched in April 2016 at the Presidio in San Francisco, and will feature week-long learning experiences in New York City as well Washington DC.

The program provides Fellows an opportunity to focus on cross sector leadership development and be exposed to examples of cross sector collaboration and innovations in leadership. They will learn about how some of the nation's most innovative organizations participate in cross sector collaborations, and benefit from a rigorous program to enhance their skill sets, expand their networks, and explore different approaches to solving complex community challenges.

"We envision a world where there are individuals working in all sectors and geographies who are equipped to collaborate to solve seemingly intractable social, economic, and environmental problems," said David B. Smith, Presidio Institute Managing Director, "The Presidio Institute supports the development of these champions for change by partnering in forums like these to learn from one another and address complex challenges."

The Fellows will apply what they learn in the program to cross sector efforts focused on a wide range of issues from improving educational outcomes, to asset building for low-income people, to energy efficiency, to innovative financing strategies for redevelopment.
