Share Your Yarn: Immigrant Yarn at Fort Point

Saturday, May 18, 10:00 AM - 05:00 PM At Fort Point National Historic Site Offered by:

 Presidio Trust

March 8 – May 19, 2019
Open Fridays – Sundays

The mission of Art in the Parks is to provide programs that connect our visitors with creative experiences in the parks that are transformative, unexpected, and inspirational. The Immigrant Yarn project provides an opportunity to explore the Bay Area’s immigration story (and the broader national immigration story) from its early days on Angel Island to our modern-day DACA recipients and immigrants. This project invites immigrants from across the country to celebrate their legacy and contribution through custom bright and colorful knitted/crocheted patches stitched together to create a playful – yet powerful – gesture unity within the topic of immigration.

This exhibition is free and open to everyone at Fort Point National Historic Site from March to May 2019. Immigrant Yarn Project is presented at Fort Point by Enactivist in partnership with the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy through the Art in the Parks program.
