In Presidio Live, experience live music, theatre, dance, film, and dialogues that offer a contemporary take on the history and nature of the Presidio and the culture of our diverse Bay Area community.

Join featured speaker CPT Rebecca Murga and panelists Sabra Inslicht, Ph.D. and Shira Maguen, Ph.D. from the Northern California Institute for Research and Education at this special event spotlighting the impact of the increasing role of women in the military.

The discussion will focus on the unique experiences of female veterans, the common threads between ‘women warriors’ and civilians, and aims to educate, inspire, and facilitate ongoing dialogue between civilian and veterans.

Rebecca Murga served as a U.S. Army Captain and Public Affairs Officer, and has deployed to Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan. She was awarded a Bronze Star for her work with the Special Operations Command in Afghanistan, and the Meritorious Service Medal for her service in Iraq. She is an award-winning filmmaker who works in Los Angeles as a writer and director. She produces and directs films, commercials, documentaries and branded content in both English and Spanish. Past clients include ABC, CBS, CBS Sports, Mundo FOX, NHL, MLB, NBA, Comcast, ESPN, Mid-Atlantic Sports Network, HBO Boxing, US ARMY, AT&T, Lucent, Verizon, Merck & Co., Walgreens, Evan Williams and A&E Networks.

Rebecca is a passionate advocate for veterans and women's issues with articles published in The New York TimesThe Global JournalThe Morning Call, and San Jose Mercury News, to name a few. She has appeared on ABC's "Good Morning America," and "The View." Most recently, she was featured on NPR as the director of a short film “War Ink” which tells veteran's war stories through their tattoos. http://www.rebeccamurga.com/about
