For Members: Baker Beach History Hike

Join retired park ranger and historian John Martini for a walk along the length of Baker Beach and up to the bluffs of Fort Winfield Scott. Stops along the way include the old Spring Valley water company at Lobos Creek, the century-old coast defense installations nestled in the dunes, and stories of shipwrecks that occurred along this stretch of beach. Highlights include a visit to Battery Chamberlin and its restored 1903 "disappearing rifle," and a steep uphill climb at the infamous Sand Ladder at the north end of the beach.
