In preparation for San Francisco’s 45th Annual Carnaval, Fogo Na Roupa – the same group who performed at the Presidio Tunnel Tops Opening – will be practicing to afro-Brasilian Carnaval rhythms on Sunday, May 14 and Sunday, May 21 in the Presidio. The “Bateria” – the drum ensemble consisting of traditional parade drums, including repiques, caixes, surdos, ganzas, and agogos – will play the infectious rhythms of samba, reggae, and more.
They’ll start at the intersection of Sal Street and Keyes Avenue. Keyes Avenue, Canby Street, and Pena Street will be closed and Mesa Street will experience intermittent closures throughout the day. See the map below for the route.
The public is invited to come by and enjoy the free performances.
