What Kids Can Do at Presidio Tunnel Tops

Tuesday, Jun 14, 2022 Category Presidio Tunnel Tops; Kids and Family

While everyone can play at Presidio Tunnel Tops, we expect to welcome more than 60,000 Bay Area kids each year. There are three areas at Presidio Tunnel Tops with a focus on youth: the Outpost nature play space, the Field Station, and Crissy Field Center. Here’s what your family will find when it opens on Sunday, July 17!

The Outpost

Kids on play space at The Outpost

The Outpost is a two-acre choose-your-own-adventure outdoor play space with features inspired by the Presidio’s nature and history – such as a hydro-tunnel, bluff slide, fallen tree, and an oversized wooden bird’s nest. It invites kids to climb, swing, play, and explore. It’s free and open 9:30 am to 6 pm daily (closes at 4:30 pm November through March).

Field Station

Kids at the Field Station

The indoor Field Station is packed with nature specimens, microscopes, maps, and more that connect kids with the park’s natural and cultural history. It’s free and open to the public Wednesday through Friday, 11 am to 4 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. Come explore with your senses!

For more than 20 years, Crissy Field Center has helped to grow tomorrow’s environmental leaders. With the opening of Presidio Tunnel Tops, it’s returning to its original home, updated and expanded to include new classrooms, an outdoor kitchen, and two labs to support programs. Find a full list of programs and register on the Parks Conservancy website.
