This month, we’re celebrating things we’re grateful for in the Presidio – our beautiful wild open spaces, our rich history, and all the fun to be had. But more than anything, we’re incredibly grateful for the work being done by the park’s dedicated volunteers. If you’re looking to do good, we’ve got great suggestions for ways to give back to the Presidio.
Drop in to a Volunteer Program
If you don’t have time to make a regular commitment, why not make a difference when you can? Just about every day of the week, volunteers participate in hands-on park stewardship at regularly scheduled drop-in programs. Drop-in programs provide flexible opportunities that work with any schedule. Depending on the day, volunteers restore native habitats, maintain trails, care for forest and garden areas, grow plants at the nursery, and support park sustainability efforts. The minimum time commitment is one 3-hour program, but volunteers can come to any program any time of the year.

Welcome Visitors to the Presidio Officers' Club
Do you love history and enjoy talking with people? If so, volunteering at the
Presidio Officers' Club as a Heritage Docent or Welcome Desk Greeter may be the perfect opportunity for you! Docents help visitors experience and enjoy the Officers' Club, including its Heritage Gallery, which features exhibits that illustrate the Presidio's fascinating past and present. Docents also welcome people to the club's live music events and talks, as well as to the archaeology site nearby. Welcome Desk Greeters answer directional questions, provide transportation information, and give visitors suggestions for other adventures in the park.
