Presidio Eats: More than Thirty Vendors Make Presidio Picnic a Foodie Paradise

Wednesday, Apr 13, 2016 Category Food and Drink

For the fourth year the Presidio Trust is partnering with Off the Grid to bring you Presidio Picnic, a day of food and fun featuring 30+ local vendors, music, yoga, and plenty more. Set on the Presidio's spectacular Main Parade Ground with knock-your-socks-off views of San Francisco Bay and Alcatraz, Presidio Picnic is a great destination for foodies, families, and friends.

Best of the Bay Area Food Scene

The line-up this year of delicious eats is bigger and better than ever. With more than 30 carts, tents, and trucks delivering the best of the local food scene, there's something to wet every hungry appetite. You'll find two tents for drinks – both the adult, and not-so-adult variety – and an array of tasty treats, from flakey empanadas to crispy grilled cheese, fresh ceviche to chicken wings, bagel and lox to creamy brûlée…and much, much more. Presidio Picnic is a great place to brunch, lunch, and sample all the best bites from the bay. View a list of vendors >>

Make it a Day in the Presidio

But don't just eat and run… the Picnic is the jumping off point for countless park adventures. "Urban parks have never been more important to the health and wellness of an urban population," says Margaret Casey, Presidio Trust cultural and community programs manager. "After lunch, why not exercise your body with a trail hike, or exercise your mind by visiting the Andy Goldsworthy art exhibition. There's so much to discover and enjoy here."

What's New for 2016?

  • Drop-Off Zone – To help alieve the congestion, there's a new dedicated drop-off zone on Graham Street for users of Lyft, Uber, and taxis. Once you enter the park, follow the signs! For tips on arriving without a car, see below.
  • Presidio Adventure Zone – Drop by the tent to pick up a map of the Presidio and plan your next park adventure with a knowledgeable staff member. The zone frequently features a green screen photo booth where you can get a FREE pic with your posse against an iconic backdrop.
  • QCUTTER – Each vendor is offering one menu item through the new QCUTTER app. This allows you to jump the line to get a quick and tasty meal. Simply place your order with the app, show your receipt at the window, and pick up your grub!

Saavy Travel: Insider Access Tips

It's easy to get to Presidio Picnic without a car. Here are some alternative ways to arrive:

By Bus
– Major upgrade! The MUNI 43 now runs directly into the Presidio and stops at the Presidio Transit Center, just steps away from the Picnic. Several other MUNI routes will drop you off right outside the park (1,28, 28R, 29, 41, and 45).

By Free Shuttle from Downtown San Francisco
– Did you know the PresidioGo Downtown Shuttle picks up near the BART Embarcadero stop every half hour on Sundays (right in front of the Hyatt on Drumm Street)? Hop aboard for direct service to Presidio Picnic – totally free and no pass required. Check out PresidiGo's online schedule for more information.

By Bike
– If you're looking to build up some serious hunger, why not take two wheels? Picnic bike parking is available at the corner of Sheridan and Anza, and once in the park you'll have over 15 miles of trails (see bike map here>>) to explore by bike.

By Lyft
– Leave your car at home and let someone else do the driving! Our partners at Lyft are offering a 25% discount to Presidio Picnic guests. They've also been briefed about our convenient new drop-off zone.
