This summer, there's a new way to enjoy happy hour outdoors in the Presidio! Every Thursday evening from May 12 through August 25, The Commissary – recently named one of the San Francisco Chronicle's Top 100 Bay Area restaurants for the second year in a row – will offer up its lovely porch from 5 to 8 pm for delicious, scenic, sundown libations.
Relaxing on the porch is always fun, but this isn't just any front stoop – The Commissary is located in the historic Montgomery Street Barracks, built circa 1895 in the Colonial Revival Style. Pull up a chair, order a sangria, and soak in the historic atmosphere while taking in views of the green grasses of the Main Parade Ground and spectacular San Francisco Bay beyond.
Want to stay for dinner? The Commissary features Spanish-influenced California cuisine by Bay Area chef Traci Des Jardins, a two-time James Beard Award winner. Or if you want to enjoy the remaining evening light with a walk, head over to the nearby Ecology Trail and hike up 1.4 miles to Inspiration Point.
