Lounge at Inn at the Presidio

San Francisco, CA (January 17, 2024) – Inn at the Presidio, a beloved treasure nestled within the heart of San Francisco’s national park site, proudly reveals a revitalization that enriches the guest experience. This refresh underscores the enduring style and historic charm that define the Inn, reinforcing its dedication to delivering an unparalleled and memorable stay.

A Fusion of Classic Charm with Contemporary Sophistication

The aesthetic flawlessly integrates traditional and current design elements, exemplified by the meticulous selection of furnishings and artful decor curation. The color palette, stripes, military brass, and natural accents pay heartfelt homage to the Inn’s turn-of-the-century origins and its iconic national park surroundings.

Terry Haney, Director of Presidio Lodging, shared his enthusiasm, saying, “The refresh of Inn at the Presidio revitalizes a cherished historic landmark, preserving its enduring elegance. This project paves the way for the Inn to remain a top destination, seamlessly blending tradition and comfort for our guests.”

Embracing Residential Quality and Connection to Nature

The Inn’s refreshed design embraces a comfortable residential quality, harkening to the history of the Inn as an army officers’ residence. Designed by Laura Cook of LC Interiors, a distinguished Bay Area-based design firm, a warm and comfortable ambiance is achieved with plush carpets, a rich color palette, and custom draperies. The living room features a lounge area centered around the fireplace with stylish leather seating and a striking Monarch butterfly-inspired area rug. The upgraded dining room has a new breakfast buffet room inspired by a butler’s pantry, providing guests with classic hospitality and a timeless atmosphere. A new art program, curated by local art production studio Julie Coyle Art Associates, showcases local iconic landscapes and the park wildlife, fostering a deeper connection to the natural surroundings.

A Tranquil Retreat Surrounded by Natural Beauty

Originally constructed as bachelor officer’s quarters by the U.S. army in 1903, the property underwent an environmentally sensitive restoration in 2012, becoming Presidio Lodging’s inaugural hotel and receiving LEED Gold Status. The Inn boasts 22 well-appointed guestrooms, including 17 suites with cozy fireplaces, an inviting front porch adorned with rocking chairs, a charming dining room, and an outdoor gathering area with fire pit.

Inn at the Presidio offers a serene escape surrounded by 1,500 acres of enchanting forests, miles of hiking and biking trails, stunning beaches, restaurants, an 18-hole public golf course, and breathtaking vistas of the Golden Gate Bridge. Tucked away in a secluded area off the Main Post, the Inn provides an intimate refuge where guests can step right outside their door to access a secluded wooded walking trail, seamlessly connecting them to the natural splendor of the Presidio.

About the Presidio

The Presidio is one of America’s most unique and visited national park sites, located at the center of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Spanning 1,500 acres adjacent to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, its rare natural habits, inspiring views, and world-class trails are a global attraction yet a bus ride away for millions of people – all available with no entrance fee. Despite its urban location, it’s among the most biologically diverse national park sites in America. Its layered past as a home to native peoples and a military post under three flags has resulted in a setting that’s much like a small town, with historic buildings reinvented as public museums, restaurants, hotels, gyms, as well as homes and offices. The Presidio is home to 3,000 residents, more than 200 organizations, and hosts 10 million visits annually.
