​​​Presidio Sustainability Stewards

Help the Presidio Trust with its ongoing environmental sustainability efforts. Learn about the composting process while composting green waste at the Compost Yard, help organize salvaged materials at the Salvage Warehouse, and assist with other sustainability projects around the park. 


Second Thursdays, 9 am to Noon

Meeting Location

Meet at the Presidio Transit Center at 9 am. Volunteers will be transported by van to the project site.

How To Participate

Sign-up by sending an email to Individuals and families or groups of 4 people or fewer are welcome to attend. Volunteers must complete an agreement form (first visit only) to participate. Volunteers under 18 years must bring a parental approval form signed by their parent/guardian. See below for details.

Groups of five people or more may require special arrangements and must be confirmed in advance. Visit Group Service Projects for details.

​Age Requirements

Ages 10 and up. If bringing youth age 15 and under, please read the Youth and Family Guidelines.

​What to Wear

Be prepared! Please wear clothes that can get dirty, layers for changing weather, and rain gear if necessary. Long pants and sturdy closed-toe shoes are required (no shorts or sandals). Bring a hat and/or sunglasses and wear sunscreen.

​What to Bring

Bring the appropriate waiver forms (see below). Bring a reusable water bottle. Water stations will be available for refills. All necessary tools, supplies, and gloves will be provided.

​Skill Requirements

No experience is necessar​y. Training will be provided.


This program is rain or shine. If it is raining, please bring rain gear.
