The Presidio Trust, the National Park Service, and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy offer volunteer internships for motivated people looking for an opportunity to connect to the park while gaining specialized training in various aspects of park management. Volunteer interns serve full-time on a short-term or long-term basis and receive free housing and a stipend paid every two weeks.
Presidio Trust
Archaeology
The Presidio Trust currently has two volunteer internship openings to support the Presidio Trust’s Archaeology Lab for ten months beginning as early as July. The application deadline for both positions is June 21, 2013.
The Archaeology Volunteer Intern will support both field and laboratory based initiatives. Activities will include contributing to field investigations, completing laboratory analysis of recovered archaeological data, conducting collections-based research, assisting with collection management, contributing to the writing and preparation of archaeological reports, and presenting and interpreting archaeological research to Trust staff and to the public. The Collections Volunteer Intern will support management of the archaeological collections and gain exposure to museum operations at a Federal curation repository. This position does not include archaeological field work. Activities will include processing of artifacts, assisting with collections management, presenting and interpreting the curation facility to Trust staff and to the public, and contributing to the writing and preparation of collections management documents. Communications, Marketing, and Media
The Presidio Trust currently has an opening for a volunteer intern to support the Presidio Trust’s External Affairs Department for ten months beginning in July. Responsibilities will include researching, writing, and preparing written content for the Trust website, electronic newsletters, press releases, and collateral materials; assisting with the tagging, resizing and cataloguing of digital assets, including photos, videos, and documents; assisting with updating the Trust contacts database; photographing or shooting video of events, activities, and projects; promoting Presidio events through postings to media and community calendars; and supporting the Presidio Trust’s social media program at the direction of External Affairs staff.

Special Events
The Presidio Trust currently has an opening for a volunteer intern to support the Presidio Trust’s Cultural Affairs and Community Development Program for six months beginning as early as June. The volunteer intern will gain valuable experience in event coordination by providing on-site support of public park programs and special events such as runs, races, festivals, theatrical productions, outdoor activities, and Off the Grid picnics. The position will also involve
providing light administrative support. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about parks and interested in pursuing a career in either Special Events or Parks and Recreation. The position is open until filled. Interested applicants
