Celebrate Compost Awareness Week
Thursday, May 9, 10 am to 12:30 pm
Turn plant trimmings and weeds into compost and get a special tour of the Presidio Compost Yard in celebration of International Compost Awareness Week. Ages 6 and up. Registration required. To sign up, send an e-mail to volunteer@presidio.gov

Presidio Forest Stewards Saturday Kick-Off
Saturday, May 18, 10 am to 1 pm
May marks the 4-year anniversary of Presidio Forest Stewards, a volunteer drop-in program created in 2009 to support the Presidio Trust's reforestation efforts. Every first and second Friday, volunteers work alongside the Presidio Trust Reforestation Crew to care for recently planted trees in the Presidio's historic forest. Starting in May, volunteers can join every third Saturday as well. Help kick off the first Saturday work day on May 18! All ages welcome.

Endangered Species Weekend
Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19
Did you know that the Presidio and Golden Gate National Parks are home to more federally protected species than any other unit of the National Park System in the continental North America? Learn about the parks' endangered plant and animal species and help restore their habitat by participating in volunteer projects at the Presidio and other locations throughout the Golden Gate National Parks during Endangered Species Weekend.

National Trails Day
Saturday, June 1
From 9 am to 1 pm, participate in volunteer stewardship activities along Presidio trails and pathways. Volunteers will make improvements to the Bay Area Ridge Trail, remove overgrown vegetation from pathways, take care of trailside landscape beds, tend trees in adjacent forest areas, and restore nearby habitat. All ages welcome. From 1 pm to 3 pm, enjoy a guided trail tour in the southwest corner of the Presidio. The trail experience will include seeing two overlooks, a new vista, a new boardwalk trail, restored sand dunes, Lobos Creek, and the Pacific Ocean.

Seeking Docents for Welcome to the Presidio Exhibit
The Presidio Trust is currently accepting applications for becoming a docent to support our new exhibit, Welcome to the Presidio: Presidio Milestones + The Next Chapter. The exhibition takes a look at how the Presidio has transformed into a new kind of national park and gives visitors a sneak peek of the Heritage Program that will open in the Presidio Officer's Club in 2014.
