The Presidio Trust and National Park Service both offer docent opportunities for volunteers interested in sharing their knowledge of the Presidio with park visitors. The word “docent” derives from the Latin word docere, meaning “to teach.” Docents serve as a vital link between the public and the Presidio, helping visitors of all ages understand and enjoy the park.
Presidio Trust Docent Opportunities
The Presidio Trust Heritage Program is currently recruiting enthusiastic individuals to volunteer as docents for the future Heritage Center that will open in late 2014. Located in the historic Officers' Club, the Heritage Center will offer volunteers the opportunity to become part of a team of docents and staff who will work towards welcoming and informing the public. Docents will be provided with comprehensive training that will take place in the Spring of 2014.
