The West Bluffs picnic area is nestled near the base of the hill that leads up to the Golden Gate Bridge. It offers a stunning panoramic view of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Marin Headlands, and Angel Island. There are picnic tables, barbeque pits, and restrooms available. Those who choose not to bring a picnic with them can stop by the Warming Hut for a tasty beverage and sandwich and some souvenirs.
West Bluffs is the perfect place to stop while visiting the west end of the park. Park your car and walk along the Bay Trail to explore the area by foot or rent a bike at the Sports Basement, one of the many businesses that have moved into former airfield buildings on Mason Street. For those interested in environmental preservation, the Gulf of Farallones National Marine Sanctuary Visitor Center is just to the west. Just outside is Torpedo Wharf where you can get an iconic picture with the Golden Gate Bridge.
