Sections of Park Trail and Bay Area Ridge Trail Closed to Dog Walking

To reduce the potential for coyote/dog conflict, we’ve proactively closed large sections of the Park Trail and the Bay Area Ridge Trail to dog walking. This annual closure is temporary; we’ll reopen these trails to dog walking in fall after pupping season ends. All 24 miles of hiking trails in the Presidio are open to people.

Getting To and Around the Park

There are many ways to arrive at and explore the park.

Whether you walk, bike, bus, or drive, there’s a path for you to and around the Presidio.

The Presidio national park site is located at the northern tip of San Francisco next to the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s easier than you think to get to the park using the free Presidio GO Shuttle or public transit.

Once here, you can explore miles of nature trails, take the Presidio GO Shuttle around the park, or pick up a bike share or bike rental. If driving is a must, you can find ample paid parking near many Presidio destinations.
