History
Built in 1937, the historic Log Cabin (located at Fort Winfield Scott) was originally a non-commissioned officers’ (sergeants') club.
Damaged by fire in 1942, it was rebuilt and expanded. Later it served as an enlisted men’s club, and in the 1970s it served as an officers’ open mess with a bar and lounge. A youth center occupied the building in the 1980s.
The Log Cabin is a wood-frame building on a stone base with horizontal log siding. Inside, tree trunk columns and a stone fireplace convey a rustic feeling.
