DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY - the Presidio Trust is accepting proposals for 935 Mason Street. This historic building (circa 1921) was the original aero maintenance shop for Crissy Airfield. Building 935 is a steel-frame structure with a concrete slab floor and roof. This opportunity requires the tenant to fund the building renovation and all improvements. Tenant’s capital investment may be used to offset monthly rent payments, as rent credits.
Consistent with the Presidio Trust Management Plan, the preferred uses for this building are cultural, educational, recreational and visitor-serving. Cultural and educational uses may include museums, artist or craft workshops, education or instructional programs, and special event venues. Recreational uses may include a variety of uses related to sports, health and fitness. Other visitor-serving uses, such as retail that is related to cultural, educational or recreational uses, may also be considered, along with food service such as restaurants and cafés. Small accessory offices required for the operation of preferred uses are permitted, but general office, child care and residential uses are not. Respondents are encouraged to indicate how they will respond the to Trust's interest in providing access to the general public.
Crissy Field, the "front yard" of the Presidio of San Francisco, is one of the most prominent public spaces on the West Coast. The area enjoys striking views of the Golden Gate and San Francisco Bay, a rich cultural history and sense of place, and thriving natural ecosystems. Crissy Field is one of the most popular visitor destinations in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Trust will entertain proposals for any building alone or in combination with other buildings.
