Presidio of San Francisco (November 5, 2003) — Take a free walking tour November 8 and November 9 that includes the grounds of historic Fort Scott and four rarely seen century-old homes on Kobbe Avenue from 10 am to 3 pm.

These spacious homes, once occupied by U.S. Army officers, are now undergoing renovation. The Presidio House Tours is a moderately strenuous walk, including steep front steps, and some unpaved pathways. Appropriate shoes and clothing are recommended.

Meet at the large Main Post parking lot near the Presidio Officers’ Club (50 Moraga Avenue, Main Post) for free, continuous PresidiGo Shuttle service to Fort Scott, where the walking commences and the docents begin explaining how Fort Scott became the new coast artillery post back in 1908.

Kobbe Avenue homes were constructed either in Mediterranean or Georgian Style. The rehabilitation of the homes includes “green” practices which create “smart” buildings conserving energy and providing 21st century communication capability for new Presidio residents.”
