Sections of Park Trail and Bay Area Ridge Trail Closed to Dog Walking

To reduce the potential for coyote/dog conflict, we’ve proactively closed large sections of the Park Trail and the Bay Area Ridge Trail to dog walking. This annual closure is temporary; we’ll reopen these trails to dog walking in fall after pupping season ends. All 24 miles of hiking trails in the Presidio are open to people.

SAN FRANCISCO (October 25, 2016) — Condé Nast Traveler has announced its 29th annual Reader’s Choice Awards with Inn at the Presidio recognized as the #5 in the Best San Francisco Hotels, earning a score of 87.15. The Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry and are commonly known as “the best of the best of travel.” Under Editor in Chief Pilar Guzmán, the Readers’ Choice Awards have become more selective and specific to the passions that inspire today’s travelers.

“We are honored by our guests who have voted for Inn at the Presidio as one of San Francisco’s top five hotels in the prestigious Condé Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards,” says General Manager Terry Haney. “It is particularly rewarding to receive this distinction for the second year in a row. Our visitors delight in the Inn’s unique location, its peaceful, historic setting, elegant accommodations and access to amazing recreation and hospitality inside this unique national park.”

The Inn at the Presidio, built in 1903 as Pershing Hall, originally housed unmarried officers during the Presidio’s former life as a U.S. Army base. The building was completely rehabilitated and opened in April 2012 and now boasts 22 spacious guest rooms, including 17 one bedroom suites, and is the only hotel located in a national park in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Forest view rooms face the verdant park landscape, while many of the suites and Bay rooms on the top floor have views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Other amenities include an inviting front porch with rocking chairs, a landscaped terrace with fire-pit, guest reception, and a guest lounge with a dining room. In the neighboring building, the Funston House, a Victorian-style house, offers an additional four guest rooms and available living and dining room, and an outdoor porch and patio. The Inn is operated in accordance with green hotel standards and was awarded LEED Gold certification. Other awards include Top 10 California Coast Hotels, Sunset Magazine (2015); Award of Excellence for Best Small Historic Inn/Hotel, Historic Hotel of America (2014) and World’s Greatest Hotels, Travel and Leisure (2012) to name a few.

About the Presidio and the Presidio Trust

The Presidio is a new kind of national park located at San Francisco’s Golden Gate. Once a legendary U.S. Army post, the park now offers world-class museums and restaurants, 24 miles of hiking trails and scenic overlooks with views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco’s city skyline, the Pacific Ocean, and the San Francisco Bay. The Presidio offers free public programs and events, a public golf course, the world-class Inn at the Presidio and the Presidio Officers’ Club, San Francisco’s most historic building. A wide range of recreation, wellness, and dining options are also provided by the Presidio’s 200 tenants. The Presidio is managed by the Presidio Trust, a unique federal agency created in 1998 to save the Presidio and transform it into a national park. The Trust generates revenue for the park through rehabilitating and leasing historic buildings, and now operates the Presidio without taxpayer support. In 2015, the Presidio was recognized as a top destination by National Geographic Traveler’s magazine “Best of the World” list. To learn more, please visit www.presidio.gov.
