Warming Hut Café and Park Store

Category

True to its name, the homey Warming Hut is the perfect place to get relief the frigid wind and fog that blow through the Golden Gate. Warm your bones inside this quaint, historic 1909 wood-frame building, once a U.S. Engineer Storehouse but transformed in 2001 into a café and gift shop run by the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.

Located at Crissy Field's West Bluff not far from Torpedo Wharf and Fort Point, the Warming Hut is beloved by locals who gather here after a run with the baby stroller, a hike with the dog, birdwatching, or even a day of crabbing at the pier. Everyone can appreciate the cafe's selection of casual but healthy food and drinks – including soup and sandwiches, teas, fair trade coffee, and other light snacks and refreshments. While waiting for your nosh, browse the unique and locally-made souvenirs, park gear, and books for sale in the gift shop. Proceeds benefit the parks.

While we highly recommend enjoying your food al fresco at the outdoor picnic tables or while walking on the wharf beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, we won't blame you if you need a moment to warm up with a hot chocolate at one of the tables inside. Bathrooms, however, are outside in a neighboring building. And if you're looking for a place to plug-in, know that the Warming Hut does not have Wi-Fi.

The Warming Hut is open daily, but hours can vary seasonally. Call (415) 561-3040.
