One part bus stop, one part gourmet pit stop, Presidio Transit Center serves commuters, residents, and visitors seven days a week. It is located in the heart of the park on the Main Post. The Presidio's free transit service, the
PresidiGo Shuttle, begins and ends its routes here, making timed transfers between lines that traverse the Presidio and those that travel downtown. The SF MUNI 43 bus also makes frequent stops here on its route that extends from Fort Mason to the Marina District and through the geographical center of the city.
TRANSIT, the center's eatery and market operated by Bay Area chef Traci Des Jardins, provides fuel for the morning commute, eat-in or grab-and-go lunches, and beer and wine on tap. Though the outdoor patio with bridge and bay views is hard to beat on a sunny day, boxed lunches enable impromptu picnics throughout the park, or – might we suggest – across the street on the lush
Main Parade Ground. While TRANSIT does not serve dinner, they do offer a curated selection of pantry staples for home-cooked meals.
Commuting by bike? BikeLink storage lockers are stationed out back, and new BikeLink cards can be purchased at TRANSIT. Taking a hike? Presidio Transit Center restrooms are open to all, and you can refill your bottles at the water fountains. Also, be sure to grab a calendar of events and a
Presidio Experience Guide from the display wall on your way out.
