Anyone of any religion, or anyone with no religion at all, is welcome at the Interfaith Center at the Presidio (ICP). Created in 1995, ICP is a regionally-focused organization that celebrates the diverse wisdom and faith traditions of the Bay Area. It's also a safe haven for dialogue, prayer, and the building of friendships.
Events and Weekly Open House
The Interfaith Center is located in the Presidio Chapel, situated on the edge of the park's Main Post above the Golden Gate Club. Built in the 1930s by the U.S. Army as a Protestant chapel, today it is a sacred space for all faiths. Events here are open to the public, including film screenings, musical performances, interfaith services, panels, presentations, and seminars.
On Sundays from 11 am to 1 pm the chapel is open for visitors to pray, meditate, look around on their own, or participate in a guided tour.
Aside from its events at the Presidio, the Interfaith Center is active throughout the Bay Area and beyond. With the mission of fostering collaboration and discussion between members of all religious and spiritual communities, the center regularly participates in interreligious seminars and festivals that focus on international peace building, sustainability, and social justice, such as Peace in the Park in Golden Gate Park, North American Interfaith Network's annual conferences, and the Parliament of the World's Religions. ICP also has a blog and a Bay Area Interfaith Connect newsletter where you can find out about events and get updates on activities around the world.
Visit the Interfaith Center at the Presidio on Sundays or check the calendar for more events. The PresidiGo Shuttle stops nearby. If you're coming by car, there's paid parking nearby.
