National Park Service Provides the Trust with guidance and concurrence for cleanup work in accordance with the Area A Memorandum of Understanding (MOA). Department of Toxic Substances Control Provides regulatory guidance and oversight for the Trust’s hazardous substance (CERCLA) and lead-based paint cleanup program. Oversees implementation for the Presidio Consent Order for hazardous substance cleanup. Regional Water Quality Control Board Provides regulatory guidance and oversight of the Trust’s petroleum cleanup program. Oversees the Site Cleanup Order concerning cleanup of petroleum contaminated sites. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Once a supporting regulatory agency to State of California regulatory agencies during the Army tenure at the Presidio. Currently it has no formal role or responsibilities in the Presidio cleanup program. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Once the Army’s lead implementation agency for environmental cleanup in the 1990s. Transferred most environmental cleanup responsibilities at the Presidio to the Trust in 1999.
