The Presidio Trust is inviting proposals to lease and redevelop 227 Halleck Street. This space is offered for appropriate service retail or office use.
227 Halleck Street sits at the interface between the Main Post, the park’s primary cultural destination, and the beautiful open spaces of Crissy Field. This area is now undergoing a great transformation with the replacement of Doyle Drive.
Built circa 1897 as a Quartermaster Storehouse, this unreinforced, three-story masonry building holds tremendous potential with a tenant-funded renovation. Capital investment may be used to offset rent payments, as rent credits. Historic tax credits may be available. Building 227 is not divisible.
The Presidio Trust is bringing back the Main Post’s lively character and creating new opportunities for the community to experience its history and culture. The Main Parade Ground, adjacent to the Montgomery Street Barracks, was recently re-landscaped as an inviting public open space for festivals, outdoor performances, and other special events. The Inn at the Presidio, the park’s first lodging destination, opens in April 2012. The Presidio Officers’ Club and Heritage Center will also soon reopen following a full historic rehabilitation. The Main Post also features a transit center, the Presidio Community YMCA, an Archaeology Center, a Visitor Center, and restaurants, with new visitor destinations expected soon.
At the completion of Doyle Drive construction, the Main Post will be connected to the Crissy Field northern waterfront via a bluff featuring ten acres of new parkland. The bluff will feature public places to gather with views of the bridge, the bay, and the Presidio’s forested ridges.
