The Presidio Institute (Institute) and SMALLIFY today announced the launch of X-SECTOR LAB at the Presidio. The launch expands the Institute's programmatic offerings designed to help leaders in the non-profit, business and government sectors develop innovative solutions to the most difficult challenges they are facing.
"We are thrilled about this partnership with SMALLIFY," said David Smith, managing director of the Presidio Institute, "X-SECTOR LAB will help the Institute fulfill its mission of providing transformational experiences that inspire, encourage, and empower leaders to make measurable, positive impact in their communities."
X-SECTOR LAB is based on SMALLIFY's Rapid Innovation Lab™ approach, which distills the best of design thinking, lean start-up, business model generation, and entrepreneurial leadership into a few simple practices. Through half, full or multi-day immersive labs, participants create innovative solutions to organizational, business or social challenges that they can start testing immediately with built-in buy-in from key stakeholders.
"The X-SECTOR LAB is a public-private partnership and intended to be a model for cross-sector collaboration. The collaborative problem-solving rapid innovation process of the X-SECTOR LAB will help shift the mindset of cross-sector leaders grappling with complex social issues from constraints to possibilities, drive alignment among key stakeholders, build collaboration and leadership skills among participants, and quickly produce tangible results ready for implementation," said Dave Viotti, founder and CEO of SMALLIFY.
X-SECTOR LAB is available to companies, foundations, start-ups, governments, non-profits (large and small) and entrepreneurial leaders (K thru CEO) and takes place at the stunning campus of the Presidio Institute within the 1,500 acre Presidio of San Francisco, a new kind of national park.
"When our cross-sector collaborative of leaders participated in a SMALLIFY Rapid Innovation Lab at the Presidio this September, we left with solutions that we could employ immediately to address problems impacting a significant proportion of the 4 million residents of the San Joaquin Valley," said Keith Bergthold, co-founder of GoCreate San Joaquin Valley and executive director, Fresno Metro Ministry.

About the Presidio Institute
The Presidio Institute offers leadership development programs and convenes events that equip and connect champions for change. Through these, individuals, nonprofits, foundations, academic institutions, government agencies, and business join together to build stronger leaders who can address the critical issues of our times. Cross sector leadership is the work of building alliances of organizations that together have a role in solving a problem and achieving a shared goal. This work requires leaders who can facilitate the members of these alliances in confronting their challenges, adjusting their values, changing perspectives, and learning new habits. Through independent research and observation, the Presidio Institute has identified a list of nine universal skills that cross sector leaders use in their practice.
