Presidio Institute Announces Lenny Mendonca as Senior Fellow

Presidio of San Francisco (March 31, 2015)- The Presidio Institute, an initiative of the Presidio Trust that builds upon the Presidio's legacy of service and public-private partnerships, announced that Lenny T. Mendonca, retired senior partner at the McKinsey Co. global consulting firm, will serve as a Senior Fellow at the Institute. Mendonca is one of 13 nominees for San Francisco Chronicle's inaugural Visionary of the Year award, which salutes leaders who strive to make the world a better place and drive social and economic change by employing new, innovative business models and practices. Mendonca will work with the Presidio Institute to provide direction on its goal to broaden cross sector leadership education platform and programs.

"I've always been drawn to new opportunities to influence and reshape the dialogue around civic innovation and problem-solving," said Mendonca. "The work being done at the Presidio Institute around cross sector leadership development builds bridges to connect the problem-solving muscle of the corporate, nonprofit, and government sectors. It is an exciting new movement that has a dedicated and appropriate home at the Institute, and I'm glad to be part of it."

Mendonca currently acts as the Chair of Children Now, co-Chair of California Forward, and founder and Chair of Fusecorps. He is the Chair Emeritus of the Bay Area Council and the Economic Institute of the Bay Area, and was vice-chair of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Advisory Council. "We are thrilled to have Lenny join the Presidio Institute team and I'm honored to have the opportunity to build this movement together," said David B. Smith, the Managing Director of the Presidio Institute. "He is an amazing example of a cross sector leader who has proven his ability to align business, nonprofit and government to forge lasting solutions to complex challenges."

Mendonca's past work focused on service to public sector organizations and has helped dozens of government, corporate, and nonprofit clients solve their most difficult management challenges. Mendonca said that he has been gifted to be, for decades, part of a firm whose corporate culture has been built on the fundamental belief that "you were part of a community -- and it was your job to give back."

As the founder and owner of Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, Lenny lives on the Half Moon Bay coast, where he and his wife Christine raised their two daughters. He regularly hosts "Mavericks'Brews and Views" where legislators, national experts, pollsters and journalists meet for discussions on policy and problems to "spark real answers about real issues" says Mendonca.
