Visitors and Volunteers

Archaeology provides many ways for kids, college students, and adults to learn about the Presidio’s past. To find out how you or your group can participate, please call (415) 561-ARCH or archaeology@presidiotrust.gov.

Visitor Events and Programs

A photo of student working with a researcher at an archaeology dig.Each year, the Lab sponsors and participates in public events that commemorate the Presidio’s past. During California Archaeology Month each October, the program hosts a lecture series featuring renowned archaeologists and historians. The annual Pasados del Presidio celebration in June commemorates the Presidio’s colonial history. Park archaeologists lead kids’ programs, host open excavations in the field, and invite visitors on walking tours. Events are listed in the Calendar.

Visit the Lab

The Lab is currently open for public visits by appointment. Archaeology provides many ways for kids, college students, and adults to learn about the Presidio’s past. To find out how you or your group can participate, please call (415) 561-ARCH.

Volunteers
