Volunteers play an important role at the Presidio Archaeology Lab, supporting staff in a variety of tasks including artifact recovery, processing and analysis; historical research; and collection management. Specific duties may include wet screening, sorting, cataloging, cleaning and identifying artifacts, entering data, mapping, and conducting research.

The archaeology volunteer program takes place Thursday and Friday mornings from 9 am to Noon at the Presidio Archaeology Lab. A three month commitment is requested. The program is currently full. To be added to the waiting list, call (415) 561-ARCH or email archaeology@presidiotrust.gov.
