Education and Outreach

The Presidio Archaeology Lab provides meaningful and memorable experiences to many audiences. Our educational programs spark curiosity about the past, broaden understanding of history, and promote stewardship by connecting community members to this place, its past, and our shared cultural heritage.

Our outreach initiatives forge collaborative partnerships with outside organizations and community groups. Through a wide variety of programming including field trips, special K-12 programs, summer camps and afterschool programs for elementary through high school students; internships and fellowships for undergraduate and graduate students; volunteer programs; lectures, tours, and professional enhancement workshops for teachers and lifelong learners; we hope to create a community of:

  • Active Citizens who are students, mentors, volunteers, researchers, and lifelong learners
  • Critical Thinkers who understand that history is multi-vocal and that the world is multicultural
  • Stewards who will care for the Presidio’s cultural and natural resources into the future
