From Crissy Field Overlook, visitors can truly appreciate the Presidio’s breathtaking location at the entrance to the Golden Gate. While standing at this soaring vantage point above the northern shoreline, imagine the arrival of large ships through the gateway or daring pilots preparing to touch down on the airfield. Today, the overlook offers an amazing perspective on the revitalization that has come to Crissy Field in this last decade. View the restored marsh, trails, and historic grass airfield, as well as the former hangars and warehouses that now welcome visitors for recreation and play. Visitors can also take in the San Francisco skyline, Palace of Fine Arts, Alcatraz, Angel Island, and the former Coast Guard station.
The Presidio Promenade connects the overlook to the Golden Gate Bridge to the north, and cavalry stables, Main Post, and Lombard Gate to the east. Take the nearby Bay Trail to explore Crissy Field and the visitor-serving destinations on Mason Street.
Crissy Field Overlook was made possible by a gift from the Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund.
