Future of Service Hosts Second Annual Retreat in the Presidio
On Monday, April 22, the Fort Scott team hosted the second annual retreat for the Future of Service coalition at the Observation Post. An initiative of the National Center for Service & Innovative Leadership, the Future of Service is an informal coalition of leaders dedicated to advancing service and volunteering as strategies for solving critical community issues and increasing citizen engagement. The coalition consists of approximately 30 executives representing public, private, and nonprofit organizations nationwide, including AARP, the Corporation for National and Community Service, and the Gap Foundation.
Fort Scott Council Discusses Proposed Pilot Program at Public Meeting
The second public meeting of the Fort Scott Council was held at the Observation Post on Tuesday, April 23. The Council, established in fall of 2012, is a federal advisory committee tasked with providing strategic recommendations related to the development of a National Center for Service & Innovative Leadership at Fort Scott. Members at Tuesday’s meeting reviewed the National Center’s earlier messaging materials and provided feedback on a concept paper for a proposed pilot leadership development program. The next Council meeting will occur in July via conference call.
