About the NCSIL
Located at the heart of the Golden Gate, Fort Winfield Scott was once home to the U.S. Army’s Coast Artillery Corps, which protected our nation’s coastline. This iconic site with stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge has long been envisioned as a campus of national significance. Honoring the post’s rich legacy of military service, the Presidio Trust is repurposing Fort Scott into a national center dedicated to advancing service to community and country.

We believe that service is central to our nation’s effort to improve the lives of people and their environments. With the support of organizations across sectors, the Presidio Trust has launched an initiative to transform Fort Scott into a home for service. The National Center for Service & Innovative Leadership (NCSIL) will offer programs in leadership development, research, and convening to help purpose-driven leaders achieve greater impact in their communities.

Upon completion, we believe the NCSIL will be widely recognized as a place where leaders come together to address shared social challenges. Just as America's prestigious military academies have come to symbolize the importance of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to national security, the NCSIL will celebrate and enhance the longstanding American tradition of providing for our neighbors, our communities, and those in need.
