Several opportunities are available for volunteers interested in participating in the Trails Forever effort to maintain and enhance the Presidio’s extensive trail network. Trails Forever is a park-wide initiative sponsored by the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, National Park Service, and Presidio Trust.

PRESIDIO TRAIL CREW VOLUNTEERS

Monthly Volunteer Work Days

Every 2nd Tuesday of the month from 10 am to 1 pm, volunteers work alongside the Presidio Trust Trail Crew to repair and maintain Presidio trails. To participate, contact the Presidio Trust Volunteer Coordinator at (415) 561-5333 or volunteer@presidiotrust.gov.

The 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 9 am to Noon, volunteers help maintain trails and construct new trails at various locations throughout the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Group Service Projects

National Trails Day

On the first Saturday of June, volunteers help maintain trails and restore trail-side habitat areas in celebration of National Trails Day. To find out how to participate, call (415) 561-5333 or email volunteer@presidiotrust.gov.

TEENS ON TRAILS

This program is designed specifically for teens, offering an opportunity for students ages 14 and up to help to maintain trails from 10 am to 1 pm on the following holidays:

• 1/19 (Monday) - Martin Luther King Jr. Day
• 2/16 (Monday) – Presidents’ Day
• 3/30 (Monday) - Cesar Chavez Day
• 4/25 (Saturday) - National Youth Service & Arbor Day
• 10/10 (Saturday) - Indigenous People's Day
• 11/11 (Wednesday) - Veteran's Day

PRESIDIO TRAIL KEEPERS

Individuals can sign-up to become a Presidio Trail Keeper. By hiking Presidio trails, Trail Keepers monitor trails and assist park visitors with way-finding. Trail Keeper volunteers enjoy a flexible schedule, regular exercise, outdoor learning, and skill development. Ages 18 and up are welcome. No experience necessary – just a love for the outdoors and hiking trails. Training will be provided. Moderate ongoing commitment level required.
