A variety of opportunities are available for volunteers interested in helping to restore and nurture the Presidio’s diverse native plant habitats. Volunteer activities span the full cycle of restoration from seed collecting and planting, to weeding and monitoring the results of restoration efforts. The program is a collaboration of the Presidio Trust, the National Park Service, and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.

Weekly Volunteer Work Days

Individuals and small groups of 10 or less can participate in weekly habitat restoration work days. Presidio Park Stewards work days are held every Wednesday and Saturday morning from 9 am to Noon. Presidio Plant Patrol, which focuses on invasive plant removal in out-of-the-way natural areas of the Presidio, takes place every Friday afternoon from 1 pm to 4 pm. The meeting place for all three work days is the Presidio Transit Center, Building 215, located at the corner of Graham Street and Lincoln Boulevard (near Presidio Fire Department), on the Presidio’s Main Post. The building is the main stop for the PresidiGo Shuttle and MUNI. Bike racks are available. The parking lots directly adjacent to the Transit Center are metered, but free parking is available in the Main Post lot. For more information, call (415) 561-5333 or volunteer@presidiotrust.gov.
