Camping

** Reservations for Rob Hill Campground Accepted Beginning January 6, 2010 at 9 am **

A sketch of Rob Hill Campground after improvements are complete.A little-known Presidio treasure, Rob Hill Campground is the only overnight campsite within San Francisco. It is situated at the Presidio’s highest point in a stand of eucalyptus trees overlooking Baker Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Links to the Bay Area Ridge Trail and Baker Beach are nearby. Rob Hill Campground is typically open for group camping by permit from April through October (the 2010 season runs June to October).

Reservations for 2010 Season

Thanks to a generous gift from the Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund, Rob Hill Campground is being revitalized and expanded to offer more children and families a camping experience in the heart of San Francisco. The campground has doubled in size and now features new restrooms and other amenities.

The Presidio Trust will accept reservations for the 2010 season (which this year will run from June 1 through October 31, 2010) beginning January 6 at 9 am. At that time, contact Presidio Trust Special Events at (415) 561-5444 to reserve a space. Please do not call prior to 9 am on January 6, 2010.

Some Changes

The new campground will be administered as a walk-in facility only. No private vehicles will be permitted on Hunter Road beyond the drop off area on Central Magazine Avenue. Although each campsite will have a fire ring, firewood is not provided and gathering of downed wood is prohibited.

Camping at the Presidio (CAP) Program

The Camping at the Presidio (CAP) program provides children and youth who traditionally have not visited national parks with overnight camping experiences. For information about eligibility criteria, costs, and the camping package, please call (415) 561-7757.
