Memorial Day Commemoration

10:30 am – parade at the Presidio Main Parade Ground
11 am – program at SF National Cemetery at the Presidio

The event begins at 10:30 am at the Presidio Main Post Parade Ground. A parade led by the 91st Division Pipes and Drum Band will proceed to the nearby National Cemetery.

At 11 am, the formal ceremony will feature the full 40-member band of the U.S. Army’s 91st Division, a laying of wreaths, remarks, a reading of the Gettysburg address, and a 21 gun salute by the U.S. Army’s 75th Division. The ceremony will be followed by tours led by National Park Service rangers and costumed volunteers highlighting the lives of noteworthy soldiers.

After the Ceremony…at the Presidio Interfaith Center

1pm - Memorial Day Interfaith Service: Andrew Carroll, editor of best-selling books featuring letters home from American soldiers, will be speaking. Sally Porter Munro from the San Francisco Opera Chorus, Michelle Latimer, distinguished jazz & classical trumpeter, and the Sausalito Presbyterian Choir will provide music. Prior to the service, starting at noon, punch and nibbles will be available outside the Chapel. At 4 pm, Andrew Carroll will be reading from Grace Under Fire, with a reception and book signing.
