Presidio Exhibit High in Fiber
"Intersections 5" Opens
Presidio of San Francisco (October 26, 2010) -- The works of more than three dozen artists are on display in a unique and colorful exhibit now open at the Presidio Officers’ Club. Presented by fiber/Dimensions, the free exhibit, Intersections 5: Colors_Concepts_Contours, runs through December 19.

fiber/Dimensions is a Bay Area collaborative that has garnered international recognition for its Intersections exhibits. From silk to steel, fiber/Dimensions artists use a wide variety of materials and employ an array of disciplines ranging from weaving, felting, quilting and paper making to painting, woodworking, printing and welding to create their pieces—all of which are bound together, literally and figuratively, by fiber. (Works from individual artists can be viewed at www.fiberdimensions.com).

Many of the artists in the exhibit will share the secrets and techniques with the public during a series of special demonstrations each Friday, beginning October 29, from 1:30-2:30 pm in the Officers’ Club. In addition, fiber/Dimensions is hosting several hands-on workshops for schoolchildren Fridays from 10 am to noon.

fiber/Dimensions Intersections 5: Colors_Concepts_Contours runs now through December 19 at the Presidio Officers’ Club Exhibition Hall, 50 Moraga Avenue in San Francisco. The exhibit is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. Admission is free.

The Presidio Trust was established by the United States Congress in 1996 to administer the Presidio of San Francisco, an urban national park that is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and is located at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge. The areas overseen by the Trust include expansive open space and spectacular views, a 300-acre historic forest, and rare and endangered plants and wildlife. The National Park Service oversees the coastal areas of the Presidio. The park comprises nearly 6 million square feet of buildings, including 469 historic structures that contribute to the Presidio's status as a National Historic Landmark District.
