Free "Fingerprint your Child" Event at the Presidio on June 1, 2007
U.S. Park Police will Create Child Identification Kits
Presidio of San Francisco (May 25, 2007) -- Families
are invited to participate in a free “Fingerprint Your Child Event” on
Friday, June 1, from 9 am to 5 pm at the Presidio Officers’ Club, 50
Moraga Avenue, on the Presidio’s Main Post. The event is part of
National Missing Children’s Day activities.
Officers of the
United States Park Police will prepare Child Identification Kits that
include digital photos and a fingerprint card for each child. The kits
are for parents to keep and will not be stored with any agency.
“When
a parent has a Child Identification Kit on hand it is very helpful for
public safety personnel,” said Sergeant David Williams of the U.S. Park
Police. “It allows us to quickly identify children involved in missing
or abducted child investigations or other emergencies.”
The event
is sponsored by the United States Park Police San Francisco Field
Office, Presidio Fire Department, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers
Association (FLEOA), and the Presidio Trust.
Volunteers from the
FLEOA San Francisco Bay Area Chapter 26 and Officers of the United
States Park Police-San Francisco Field Office will be on hand to make
the Child Identification Kits. The Presidio Fire Department will bring
"Smokey the Bear," fire rigs, and other fire safety equipment and will
provide fire safety awareness presentations. Children can enter a free
raffle, with prizes valued at over $600, including gift certificates
from the Sports Basement and the Presidio Bowling Alley.
“We are
proud to co-sponsor this important event,” said Craig Middleton,
Presidio Trust Executive Director.
