Provides maintenance, alteration and construction of concrete surfaces and structures, masonry walls and other masonry surfaces and structures in both indoor and outdoor areas; plans and lays out work from blueprints, rough sketches, construction drawings, surveys, and work orders; interprets and applies blueprints, engineering drawings, and manuals to determine material, tools, and equipment needed for the project and how or what construction or repairs need to be made to meet accepted trade practices; lays bricks, cement blocks, stones for walls and other surfaces; calculates angles and courses for building walls, arches, columns, corners, and bottoms; removes damaged brick, concrete and prepares surface for repairs; mixes and applies mortar for setting bricks, blocks, stones or other materials; maintains, repairs, and constructs cement and concrete surfaces including sidewalks, steps, curbs, driveways, ramps, roads, and other projects that require precise measurements and involve the setting or construction of forms in curved and straight lines; computes concrete requirements and operates a cement mixer to mix and prepare concrete ensuring that proper amount of cement, sand, stone, and water are used; levels concrete to specified depth and workable consistency, with hand held screed and floats and works the surface to the desired texture finish with trowels and other tools; strikes joints and brushes finish work; utilizes safety practices following established safety rules and regulations; maintains a safe and clean work environment; uses and maintains a variety tools and equipment; loads and unloads equipment and materials that frequently weigh up to 60 pounds; occasionally up to 80 pounds; safely operates motor vehicles including pick-up trucks and other Class C vehicles; responds to requests, questions, comments and concerns from public, residents, tenants and Presidio staff using good customer service. This is a full time position with benefits. Minimum salary: $29.58 per hour.
Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three years of experience working with concrete and other masonry materials; working knowledge of general masonry tools, proper use and care of common hand and power tools; practices of work safety; good customer service; ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and construction drawings; establish and maintain positive working relationships; independently carry out written or oral instructions; ability to lift or move up to 80 pounds. Possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license.
