Provides grounds and facilities care, cleaning and maintenance support; maintains turf by mowing and edging; assists with seasonal fertilizing, aeration, top dressing, and compost tea applications; performs weed eradication and control through hand pulling and mechanical means; maintains perennial and color accent beds in weed free condition; installs landscape control fabrics and mulches beds with wood chips; prunes trees to 25 feet high; prunes shrubs and controls other growth around housing and commercial units; leads small groups of volunteers in basic grounds maintenance tasks; uses hand tools to excavate for plant installations, irrigation repairs and soil relocation; re-grades soil as instructed; uses gas power blower to clear walkways and streets; installs, repairs, and removes park furnishings, playground fixtures, and fences; empties refuse containers and picks up litter; assists with trail and patio repairs; cleans drains and drainage culverts; performs or assists with minor repairs to irrigation systems; operates small utility vehicles or GSA vehicles; provides traffic control assistance; and wears Presidio Trust uniform and personal protective equipment. Term position, not to exceed September 30, 2015, with benefits. Pay rate: $22.63 per hour.
Requires 2 years of experience in the landscape field; familiarity with work practices, methods, and processes of hand tools and basic powered tools and equipment, including string trimmers, chain saws, gas-powered blowers, hedge trimmers, and riding mowers. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Knowledge of how to mix gas and oil to fuel power equipment; and ability to follow oral and written instructions, use good judgment, and concentrate on the work at hand. Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license.
