The Presidio Institute, located at Fort Scott, an expansive and scenic former military post overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, is dedicated to developing and implementing programs that further its mission of building on the Presidio’s legacy of service and public-private partnerships; incumbent reports to the Managing Director, Presidio Institute and works closely with Presidio Institute team members, the Fort Scott Council (a federal advisory board), and the Presidio Trust executive staff; responsible for developing and implementing Presidio Institute programs that provide transformational experiences that inspire, encourage, and empower leaders to make measurable, positive impact in their communities; plays a key role in developing strategies required to establish and sustain the Institute, including communications, fundraising, partnership development, and related efforts; assists Managing Director in investigation, formulation and execution of an overarching strategic direction of the Presidio Institute in alignment with the Presidio Trust’s organization-wide strategic plan; leads successful design, development, administration, deployment and evaluation of cutting-edge programs aligned with the Presidio Institute’s mission; manages staff to assist in the design, development, and/or evaluation of programs; manages selection process and oversees contracts for consultants, when appropriate, to assist in the design, development, and/or evaluation of programs; cultivates relationships with thought leaders, partners, and collaborators to inform the development of programming that is innovative and responsive to the needs of current and emerging social purpose leaders; develops communication strategies for each program aimed at internal and external audiences; requires effectively articulating the Presidio Institute’s vision, goals and desired outcomes to diverse constituencies; actively participates in branding and messaging of the Presidio Institute to create compelling marketing materials; plans, implements, and directs an alumni engagement strategy for the Presidio Institute’s program participants; develops, tracks, and oversees program-specific budgets with consideration of the Presidio Institute’s total financial picture and social impact goals; identifies opportunities and implements strategies for program-related revenue generation and philanthropic support; coordinates with PresidioTrust staff, consultants, and contractors as needed to ensure that the Fort Scott district’s site plans, building rehabilitations, and designs are reflective of the Presidio Institute’s programmatic objectives. This is a term position, not to exceed September 30, 2015, with benefits.
Requires bachelor’s degree and 7 years’ experience in program design, development, administration, delivery, fundraising and evaluation in the fields of leadership and/or service; master’s degree in business administration, public administration, education leadership, higher education administration, organizational development or related field highly desirable; solid computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel; ability to work effectively with other professionals, general public, elected officials, and contractors; excellent communication and organization skills; excellent interpersonal skills including public speaking and community outreach experience; excellent writing skills; strong work ethic; collaborative working style; customer service orientation; experience with web-based education and collaboration tools desirable.
