Making History Visible at El Presidio
Trust archaeologist Eric Blind with intern Nabil Fahmy

Throughout the summer of 2012, the Presidio Trust has welcomed Nabil Fahmy, a highly skilled intern from Egypt who came to the Trust through the ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) program.

In Egypt Nabil is a builder and works regularly on the Shunet El Zebib, a site in Abydos, Egypt, that dates from the 27th century BC and is the oldest known adobe building in the world. Nabil is at the Presidio to help build an adobe wall that will represent part of the original Spanish Colonial adobe El Presidio. We like to say he has worked on the oldest adobe building and is now working on the newest.

Next time you are at the Presidio, check out Nabil's work, which is visible from behind the buildings along Funston Avenue, adjacent to the Inn at the Presidio.
