The Presidio is the largest preservation effort underway in the United States. A wide range of professional staff trained in historic preservation, archaeology, historic landscape architecture, materials conservation, forestry, and curatorial practices work together to renew and revive the Presidio’s physical legacy which consists of 477 individually significant historic buildings, and more than 180 historic objects including roadways, cannon, gates, walls, and other features.
Over the past 15 years, tremendous strides have been taken toward this goal on the part of the Presidio Trust and its partners. Below are some statistics to illustrate the scale of this effort and what’s been accomplished to date.
