Explore the lifeways and stories of Early California and see history come to life. Day includes music & dance, Ohlone storytelling and exhibits, and Juanito the donkey. Kids can make adobe bricks, pottery, rope, and more. Our friends from Fort Ross will also join in the fun. Food available for purchase.
New this year! Hop aboard the PresidiGo shuttle from the Golden Gate Club and visit El Polín, a beautiful spring where early California families settled. Explore this special place with naturalists, an archaeologist, and Guadalupe Briones Miramontes, portrayed by docent Barbara Corff. Spanish colonial soldiers will also be on site to escort visitors on foot.
This special additional event is part of a month long celebration of
El Polín Spring, a recently restored natural treasure in the heart of the Presidio's largest watershed. More than a dozen events like this one and much more are planned, including guided walks and talks, bird watching, fun for kids, archaeology tours, and a volunteer day.
